Stark County Slack Shack

The clothing room at Stark Regional Community Correction Center opened its doors on September 1, 2023. This is a 360 square foot department store for inmates during their stay. Just prior to release, men can pick out their “going home” attire. We opened with over 1350 items in inventory. The only purchased items were socks, underwear, belts, and a few hygiene items. Over 1225 items were donated by people who care.

True Freedom opened its first clothing room almost twelve years ago to serve men reentering society. We started in two small rooms on the second floor of the Elizabeth Baptist Church office building. We quickly outgrew that space and moved to the third floor. It didn’t take long for our generous donors to fill up that space also. Soon we were providing excess items to prisons and ministry partners, including Grafton Correctional Reintegration Center, Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries Men’s Homeless Shelter, Faith Baptist Church, Haven Home, Bishop Cosgrove Center, Y-Haven and Elizabeth Baptist Church.

We so greatly appreciate the generosity of our donors, who have funded this ministry and donated needed items. We also praise the Lord for the faithful service of David Sudnick over these many years. David oversees every facet of this ministry, at all of our slack shack locations, gathering and meticulously organizing everything from suits and ties to blue jeans and work-boots (and everything in between!).

God continues to use True Freedom Ministries to change lives. Without your partnership and financial support, this would not be possible. Would you prayerfully consider making a one-time or monthly donation to support True Freedom’s prison ministry?
