Rejoice in the Lord! Look out for the dogs, look out for the evil doers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. Outward rituals have no spiritual value unless they are accompanied by a genuine conversion of the heart.

/While COVID shut down True Freedom’s in-person access to prisons, God was opening new doors for reaching our clients. /Since COVID struck last spring, True Freedom has used mass mailings and leveraged technology to reach our clients across the state. Then, on Monday, March 15, 2021, we were back in prison for the first time in a year. Praise the Lord for opening this door! Pastor Mark Stradiot was at Trumbull Correctional Camp facilitating a Christian-based Character Development Class. It was small, but it was good. One man even prayed to receive Christ. Lord willing, Mark will teach this class every Monday at 1:30 p.m. Also in March, five men from True Freedom Ministries were trained and approved to go back into Grafton Reintegration Center and Grafton Correctional Institution. The group included Michael Swiger, David Wessel, Mark Stradiot, Bill Holko, and Don Talladino. We hope to get back into Grafton in the near future. Chaplains Dr. J.D. Smith and Mark Stradiot are also in the process of reentering the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center. We are so grateful that God is granting True Freedom in-person access to our mission field again. We have really missed serving our clients in this way. Please pray that our efforts would be fruitful, bringing much glory to His Name

/“Jesus Christ has changed tens of thousands of lives through the ministry of Gary Koly,” says Michael Swiger, Executive Director of True Freedom, “And I am just one of them.” Those who have met Gary Koly over the past forty years struggle to reconcile the jovial, happy-go-lucky man with the stories of his early years plagued by rampant drug use and violence. “I was a big, dumb guy who liked to punch people,” Gary would often say. When he was only 18, an altercation at a bar left one man dead and Gary with a 3-50-year sentence for manslaughter. During those impressionable years at Mansfield Correctional Institution, Gary got a first-class education in being a thug.

/2020 started off as a sprint for us, as we experienced a 20% growth in all of our outreaches during the first quarter of the year, averaging 207 services, programs, and classes every month. Think of it: that’s 7 per day! Through God’s grace, the ex-offenders in our work release program earned over $500,000 in wages during 2019, having earned zero the year before. And we expanded this vital initiative in January by placing inmates from Grafton Correctional at a high-tech medical company in Twinsburg called reLink Medical.

True Freedom 2020 Virtual Fundraiser Invitation
/Ordinarily, by October we are busily preparing for our Fall Banquet, our biggest fundraising event of the year. However, due to COVID, that door is closed. This would be greatly discouraging if we weren’t standing on Romans 8:28: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Where God closes one door, He opens another.
